I finally have an A-Bolt back in the line up, I like em.
I just bought a slightly used and new to me Browning A-Bolt Mountain Titanium in 300WSM as an upgrade to the Savage I have in 300WSM.

I sure do like the weight factor of this rifle, waiting for some Talley's to arrive so that I can get a scope on it, and get out and sight it in, and shoot it.
I'm still toying with what way to go with the scopes, either I buy a new Leupold VX-II 3-9X33UL or trade off my Vari-X II 4-12X40AO for the Ultra Light scope, or I just mount the Vari-X II 4-12 on the Ti.
I would like the the 8.8oz scope, but I already have the 4-12 which won't cost anything other than 5 more ounces. lol

I've been cruising the net for pros and cons on this model, but not getting a lot of info.
For those of you out there that have one or had one, what do you like or don't like about this model?
and
If you happen to have one in 300WSM, what loads or ammo works best for you? and how well does yours print on paper for a pencil barrel?

I'm betting that this ones going be a kicker.

mountain ti

I have had mine for four years now but in a 7mm wsm I look it great to pack easy to shot, all that have shot it at the range are very impressed. I put a vx-111 4.5-14x40 lr bnc glad to have the extra range, does not seem to heavy, and the size of the scope fits the looks of the gun Have fun.

i had one in 300wsm. tried many powdwers and bullets, eventually had success with RL19and 180 accubonds. 71 grains i think.

the rifle turned out to be a real lemon. the sling mounts came loose and wouldn't go back in straight and if i didn't clean it every 5-10 shots it wouldn't shoot straight at all.. terrible infact. i ony had it for about 3 months and i got tired of dealing with browning in quebec so i sold it. it's an expensive rifle to be having any problems out of the box.

i hope you have better luck. i know browning usually makes a good product.

Hey folks thanks for the replys, I hope to get out this weekend to the range with it and see what happens.
Decided for the time being to go with the Vari-X II 4-12X40AO.

I'm hoping that this rifle will fair with the 165's and 180's, the crony and the paper will tell me what's going on.

I took over the rifle Axe is talking about, spent alot of hours playing with powders and bullets, ended up using 180gr TTSX bullets with 71grs of reloader 19. This was the best accuracy without dropping way down to 30-06 velocities.... but why not gallop when you got the horsepower?
I also took the stock off and found a piss poor bed job on the front lug only. So I took the expensive root and bought a new BC stock with the aluminum bed block. This brought the accuracy to about 2moa. I was going to do a full action glass bed but held off because I have been considering getting a premium barrel installed.
I'm waiting for a quote from corlanes, then I'll decide weather I wanna dip into my Sig226 fund. Despite a 400 dollar savage can print better than this pricey browning, it is one hell of a nice firearm. The thought of a flash fluted shilen or gallard barrel on this rig gets my trigger finger tingley

I shoot one is .325wsm.
I shoot 180 factory accubonds and am getting 1.5 groups at 100yrds.
The guy I bought it from stripped the dura touch grip stuff off and painted it with some other hard type paint.
Yes the fwd sling swivel comes loose and yes it is annoying/pisses me off too, but for less than half price I am happy with the way it shoots, the way it feels in my hands(after all it is an A-bolt) and most of all I like the fact that it lighter than my Wby Accumark and way lighter than my first .300 winmag a Parker Hale 1200 series rifle.
Hell with the 3.5-10x40 Leupold Scope on it , it is one if not the lightest gun I have ever carried.
I have never flinched or complained about the recoil either, but maybe it is because I am not concentrating on the felt recoil.
No load development for this gun, cause as mentioned already it is happy with factory fodder even though it sometimes can be a challenge to locate, but Stllwater in Ladner or any of the three WSS have had what I needed/wanted, so far....
Would I buy this gun brand new ?
Nope, not a hope in hell when pst/gst is 13%
Tight Groups,
Rob
