I own two Ruger MKIII pistols and have shot a Browning.
A couple of things. If you do go with a Ruger (The 5 1/2 bull barrel is the best compromise and is still handy) make sure you go with a stainless model. The Stainless Rugers stand up to more, and seem to have better fit/finish.
Yup they are nice pistols, but are a paint to disassemble.
The Browning. Again stainless if given the option. Overall I actually liked the browning better. It balanced well, and the trigger was better than the Ruger. It felt more like a real gun.
I like both and you don't see my Ruger's up for sale, but.... I do think the Browning is nicer overall.
