So ive had my browning silver for about 2 months now. I completely clean it every time i have it out. After the cleaning, the next time im out it reliably jams on either the second or third shot. This weekend i didnt bother cleaning it and it worked great, no jams. So my question is what might i be doing in the cleaning process to make it jam?

If this is the new version of the A-5, the mag tube needs to be lubed with light oil or
the oil recommendations that Browning say to use.

did you clean the recoil spring in the stock , if not try that i use to have a silver put maybe 4 flats of target loads and a flat of magnum loads through it and not one jam

G96 is a brand, not a product. What do mean by "completely clean"?

I'm still leaning towards too little oil, maybe a bit of incorrect cleaning thrown in. There may be several things going on also. The ammo may be too light, too little oil, gun assembled incorrectly, shooter error etc. etc. etc.. A combination of very minor problems could add up to the malfunctions you are experiencing.

If you can elaborate a bit more on ammo and cleaning procedures I think we can deduce the cause of the problems.

What is your definition of completely cleaning it? Do you clean your gas piston with G96 also? Have you cleaned your recoil spring?

i take it completely apart to clean. the only thing that doesn't get cleaned is the inside of the mag tube. I use G96 for everything. The type of jam im having is either a half ejected shell, or the chamber closes after the second shot without a shell. Im using either Winchester 1 1/8 target loads or federal 1 1/8. Ive put many flats of each through and every time the same after the cleaning
