Browning Sporting Shotguns

Wow, I wish I had new that the geltek pad makes that much of a difference because all of the berretta sporting guns I looked at had the standard pad. Do those Geltek pads really make that much of a difference?

it did for me..i was shooting a 525 with lenghtened cones and a kick-eez...i switched to the beretta 682 gold e with the standard beretta pad..the gun had a bit of a kick to it compared to the 525...changed the regular pad to the geltek and thats it...there is almost zero felt recoil...the gelteks are also very good for mounting the gun when shooting from a low gun position.....

Geltec slippery when wet?

At one of the small trap shoots I was at I saw a competitor, who I've seen shoot several times, missing way more than normal. It was pouring rain and when I was talking to him afterward he said it was the first time he had shot in the rain with the geltec pad he had mounted on his berreta and it was slipping all over his shoulder. He liked it fine until then. This guy usually would shoot in the high 90's and I don't think he broke 80.

Was he just not used to the pad, or is this something that others have found?

I'm weighing in late on this one... but better late than never I guess.

Yes, I sold my 525 some time ago. :(
For the record, I really liked that gun, for many reasons, - but it just didn't fit me, as I could score better and more consistently with my 870 wingmaster.

(I couldn't even beat Gatehouse out of a bottle of Scotch with it, which shows you how badly I was shooting it :D). I'm still looking for the "ultimate" 12g, which is an endless quest, but lots of fun. For the time being I am using my 390 Silver Mallard, or a Standard 101.
