Stock may have been shortened? I don’t know but it appears to have an after-market recoil pad?
Serial Number: 48429
Manufactured in 1956

Maybe it's the pictures but I wonder whether the entire stock is original. $800-$1,000

I was under the impression that guns of that era had a round knob buttstock, so Claybusters speculation may be correct, as is his pricing.

Pop off the triggerguard and the wood s/b serialized to the gun if original. If the wood is original and has been cut, big deduction.

Pictures are really bad to tell much, in most it looks like a lot of bluing loss. Biggest concerns would be if the gun is still on face/hinge wear and if rib has loosened yet.

Had my hands on a great example today at a sponsor (Rouge River) and he was asking 1100. It had Mod over Imp though, which felt like a weird combo to me.

If we are discussing the bottom of the grip area, IIRC it's referred to as the Prince of Wales 'bag grip' in shotgun circles.
