has anyone had any problems with the browning t-bolt rimfire .22? I am asking cause while at a gun shop yesterday looking for a new .22 i spotted this rifle and was intrigued by it. I liked how the bolt worked but after thinking about it started to wonder how reliable it is? I usually follow the rule of the more moving parts the more parts there are to break or fail. With the unique design of the t-bolt i was wondering if anyone has had problems with this rifle and the bolt????

I've got one of the new ones. I've never had any problems with the bolt, lock-up, feeding, firing, or ejection. On mine the clip seems to be getting quite "sticky" in the gun, no longer ejects when the release is pressed the way it did when new. It's got about 2500 rounds through it. Accuracy is good (sub-1" @ 50 yards with Rem Subsonics). The straight-pull action is still very much a novelty that I enjoy playing with. Overall I'm very satisfied with it so far.:)

you wouldn't happen to have any pictures of the groups you are shooting with the t-bolt would you. I'm new to guns and sub-1" @ 50 yards doesn't mean much to me. also you wouldn't happen to know what the rate of twist is for the t-bolt would you? I can't find it anywhere on the internet.

sub 1" @ 50 means he is getting groups under 1" at 50 yards. not sure if he's talking 5 or ten shots though

I used to own one in 80's. I'm forever sorry I sold that sweet old T-bolt. As I remember, with good target ammo, I used to shoot 1" groups at 100y with it. I never had a problem with it either. I highly recommend buying one if you come accross one for a decent price. Mind you, they ain't cheap, but well worth the price.

My Great Grandfather got one of the T2 high grades in `74. during retirement he spent every sunny day driving the neighbors pastures culling gophers. I imagine he put a ton of rounds through this gun. Grampa ended up with it next and from the time I was 9 or 10 we'd take it out to shoot targets. He gave it to me when I was 12 I guess and it has been my go to .22 since.

Only weak spot is the plastic trigger guard and the stock on my gun. There is a big knot right at the wrist and it cracked. the trigger guard cracked too at the front screw hole. we drilled the hole out and put a small steel sleeve in it and called it good.

Action wise it has been rock solid all the way. There is one at Ellwoods.

I have a left handed one and I have never had a problem with mine. Occasionally if I am shooting rapid fire I can pull the bolt right out of the gun. I am quite sure that is my technique rather than a fault of the gun though. Mine also can shoot half inch five shot groups at 50 yds if I do my part. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

This target was shot with 3 different types of bulk ammo. The day was windy, but these were only at 50 yards. It shot some better. I had one for awhile. After I bought the T-Bolt, I bought a CZ 452. It cut those groups in half in most cases, and I then found I had no need for the Browning. I traded it off to a fellow gunnut. The rifle never missed a beat, shot well and was accurate enough to slay many gophers. Spare mags are about $60 I think, BTW.

I have an old T-1 and the accuracy is very acceptable. My son claims it is his but it is registered in my name . . . When he lost the magazine a few years ago, Italian Sports had one for around $50.00. When the old magaizine was found I equated that to two for $50.00. Makes sense to me . . .

A guy from the West Kootenays on this board told me at the Cranbrook Gun show two years ago that he had extra Tbolt mags available at $65 each. I can't remember his name but somebody here might know him if you need / want more.

Have a new one ... couple of thousand rounds through it with no issues whatsoever. Don't much care for bulk or promo ammo of any sort, rimfire, centrefire or shotshell. The T-bolt shoots 5 shots into 3/8" (and less) at 50 yards with no problems. It likes Eley Tenex Ultimate, Lapua Midas M & Super Club and CCI Green Tags.
