browning vs savage

It depends if you have something else you need to spend that money on. The Savage will work just as well, accurately and safely, for less. It just won't look as nice.

i have a savage and a browning.... both go bang, both accurate as i can make them.

if the savage had a nice stock, they would be the same

i do feel better shooting the browning though... something about it

and thats cheap savage package gun and browning xbolt hunter

Since the days of the Savage 99 Savage has been more of a price point from what I have seen and some would say they are not pretty guns either. They do have a rep for accuracy so never mind what other people think and buy what you like. Brownings will usually have a much better fit and finish as well as nice lumber. You are not paying for all that on a Savage but they will shoot well. Then again my Savage 99s are my fave rifles. Depends on how old it is. Older Brownings and some newer ones have that lovely deep blue-almost to black that you can see a mile off. Still they all go bang.

sold my BROWNING s/s stalker 300 wsm ..was not impressed with the recoil pad ,with the BOSS ,with the 6lbs. trigger ,cheap flimsy tupperware stock and the thin barrel .not worth the money i spent on it ..ordered the Savage weather warrior ..accustock ,accutrigger with a decent recoil pad from Savage the barrel is also thicker and will not overheat like the Browning ..

Unless you're talking about the old FN Mauser-actioned Brownings, I'd get something else if I wanted something nicer than a Savage.

If you want a synthetic stock, the x-bolt stock with the rubberized coating feels so nice. It just feels more like quality than the hollow sounding plastic that savage uses. It's like savage got their stocks from the dollar store.
But I hear they're accurate.
I have a synthetic/blued x-bolt, and I not only like the way it looks, I also like the way it feels. And it's the most consistently accurate hunting rifle I own. [well, I haven't taken my M70 EW in 300WSM out yet, so maybe that last statement will have to be amended.]

I think it depends on what you are looking for. As far as function and accuracy I don't think its worth the extra money. If you are looking for fit and finish maybe.

I have 1 Browning & 3 Savages so I say no.... ;) :p
