Browning X Bolt Hells Canyon Long Range McMillan

Browning sure has some really ugly rifles in their line up this year. IMO Browning rifles used to be a thing of beauty, and some still are very nice, but here lately they have put out some hard looking crowbars.
Instead of them building those butt ugly green, beige, and that graffiti littered smoke model,... I would like to see Browning build a couple models with the traditional configured wood stocks with raised cheek piece, and/or monte carlo style, or straight comb, etc,...(I know they have the White Gold and FLD Hunter),..with some nicely configured checkering, stippling, or scaling, etc,..with a nice oil finish,..anything different than the regular euro style x-bolt stock. They could offer them in some different caliber choices such as 338fed, 358win, 35whelen, 284win, 257roberts, 264win, etc,...with a choice of barrel lengths to suite the caliber... Make them available in stainless matte/polished, blued matte/polished. Most any style would be better than what they have got going on right now.
Atleast they have adopted the new 26, 28 Nosler,...but they could offer much more,..and I think they would sell more rifles styled like I mentioned above than what they are offering in this years Shot Show line.

This model doesn't offend me, but I'm also into long range Precision Rifle Shooting and those rifles tend to look something like this.

As a hunting rifle this doesn't appear to me, but I'm also not a traditionalist blued & wood guy.

Point is this rifle doesn't make much sense to me for its intended use. For a bit more money I'd take the Kimber Mountain Ascent over this Browning any day, far better design.

Agree with the point Browning has a lot of ugly rifles in their lineup.

I would have to agree that Browning has decided to make ugly sticks instead of aesthetically pleasing rifles these days. I neve did like anything they have had to offer in the last 20-30 years, until the x-bolt. Although probably one of the ugliest wood stocked rifles ever made, at least the X-Bolt has something good to offer in design and function.

Sure would be nice if they went back to making pieces of art like they used to....

What a "Uglystick" is in Newfoundland :)

Don't understand the hate for browning stocks? Name another brand even close to their price point with anywhere near the quality of wood? Medallions are some of the finest looking wood around. When was the last time you saw a very nicely figured wood stock on a $2000 Sako? Tikka t3"s are a much higher regarded than an Xbolt and the wood is rivaled on a Mossberg. I love maple medallions, regular medallions, white gold's. They even make a high grade for full feature dealers and its still less money than anything close in dollar. One thing I will say is those birds eye 3D maple are something only a mother could love.

Agree, plastic ruins a quality firearm for me, even though I'm sure it won't be an issue. I did recently buy my first X-bolt and it is growing on me. Bolt seems really smooth compared to previous models.

McMillian make really good stocks.

Every gun store I see the Browning banners on the wall and the stickers on all the barrels. My eyes just glance right over them for some reason. It's like they're not even there.

To be honest I don't know why. They have just never been on my radar. To be fair I never bother with them to be able to have an informed opinion (other than some ulgy looking stuff on their site... and a few nice looking ones too).

Maybe it's the Browning stickers on guys trucks that make me ignore them... I dunno what it is ..

That's how I have always felt as well. However I own several 40 year old and older Brownings and like them a lot. I tried a few A-Bolts and didn't like them at all, but when I was looking for a utility 325 I decided to give the X-Bolt a good look over. It is now my go to hunting rifle surprisingly enough.

Still hate the stickers everywhere.....

The stock is by far the best part of that rifle.

I agree. I actually don't mind the Xbolt, this new rifle will probably shoot very good. Almost every Xbolt I have shot has grouped well (8 or so different rifles)

On a LR Precision style firearm though, the 'Feather' trigger on the Xbolt doesn't cut it for me
