Looking for opinions. Want to pick up a new rifle because hunting season is over, which is as good of an excuse as is ever needed.

Narrowed things down to 7mm-08 in Browning X Bolt Hunter or Winchester Model 70 Featherweight (both in satin finish walnut). Ironically both are the exact same price.

Which would you buy and why?

I would buy a winchester. Reasons: I hate the button on the bolt on the browning, The gun feels a but weird to me when I shoulder it, I dont like the looks of the huge plastic bit on the bottom of the gun where the mag sits. I was debating between these 2 for a while and will end up with a m70 over a xbolt

When I was looking at getting a .30-06 those were my two top picks, ended up going with the browning after handling it, seemed to fit better, and I like it a lot. M70 is nicer looking, though.

Two very nice rifle but if I would have to choose it would be the x-bolt because they handle very good and I prefer a dbm and the tang safety.

X-Bolt, I find the Brownings are generally more accurate. I really prefer the 60degree bolt lift and tang safety. Personally it would have to be a very special hunting rifle for me to buy it without a detachable mag and I can't imagine what that would be.

Just ordered a 375 H&H X-bolt stainless stalker, this will be my first bolt action Browning rifle, after shouldered it, i knew this is one i needed... JP.

M70 for looks, X-Bolt for function, the rest is pretty much equal. I say get both, if not at the same time, buy one now, save and get the other one later!

I just bought a Browning X Bolt in 243, synthetic stock with matt finish action and barrel. Certainly won't win any beauty prizes, but I like the feel and functionality of this rifle. I will likely paint the butt ugly grey stock to try and pretty her up a bit, but other than that I am very pleased with my purchase.

Just Bought an X-bolt medallion in .270 had it out to the range to site in on sunday,
very nice shooter <3/4" groupings at 100yds
either gun will outlast our lifetimes
