Browning X bolt problem / question.

Hi,

A friend has an X bolt Browning in 30-06.
He is unable to fire more than one round.
He loads the magazine, chambers a round and after discharge he ejects the fired case. On attempting to chamber the second round, the rifle will not ####.( The cocking tab disappears). If he engages the safety between shots, the cocking tab emerges and the rifle cocks.
In effect, he is unable to fire a quick second follow up shot unless he engages the safety between shots.
Has anyone any idea on a fix for this issue. We assume that the bolt is the root of the problem.

I am assuming the trigger has been messed with?

The fix is to get it to a gunsmith and have the problem correctly diagnosed. If it is a new rifle it should be a Browning repair depot.
