Browning X Bolt Trigger

Has anybody tried to reduce trigger weight of the Browning X bolt through cutting off of the coils/spirals of the factory spring in the trigger assembly? If so, how did it work out? Your views, Thanks

I have not, but you can get a replacement spring for like $12 from YoDave or Mcarbo that drops it by about a pound.

The spring was $22 but seems to be a 10 cent cost to manufacture part. The original spring is a solid and stronger spring.

I've worked on a couple of X-Bolt triggers and could never get them lower than 3lbs. The trigger is decent enough for hunting but in my mind and for my needs it is the achilles heel of the X-Bolt.
Timney is an option.

Did you try the new spring? Thats the point of the new spring its not so solid and strong. Hopefully its not too weak like my yodave tikka spring,there is a pull area beween 1 and three quarter pounds and 3 pounds i would like to get to between them but cant

Weve cut coils off for an Axis trigger. One loop removed, reinstall and a measure weight until you get where you want.

I did a few... but a coil off is too much. Just flat grind a little off an end and try it.

It is easier to replace the spring with a softer one. I had an assortment of long, light coil springs from Brownells.

I have done both of mine with M Carbo springs and set them to just over 2 Lbs. Not sure how I could get the stock spring out without rendering it useless. I wondered about doing the same thing before finding the spring replacement kit.

I removed the trigger assembly and separated it first, and used a very thin screw driver (fit to use on eye glasses screws) to dislodge the spring. There is a Youtube video from Mcarbo on it. We did two rifles and got the springs out intact.
