I installed Browning mounts (tally).
No issues, as the front screws are shorter than the rear.

I then removed the mounts and installed a 20 MOA rail ,
And stripped the two front receiver threads ( female)

Unlike the browning mount screws, the base screws were all the same length.

So if the pitch is 6-48, could I use an oversized 6-48 tap and die ?
Or do I jump up to next size?

To answer your last question no you will need to jump up a size or repair the thread. A tap size is always the size then thread pitch in inches or distance in mm then type of thread so there isn't really a oversized tap. Not that it would really do anything if you have stripped the hole. There are ways to repair threads but without seeing what the damage i couldn't say which one is best.

Yes,sorry guys, I wanted it here , As the other thread was more about the value of the gun.

But the prob has been resolved.
Apparently the longer screws needed to go in the front mount.

Is it possible to have this thread removed?

Thanks
