I amlooking to buy my first shotgun. I think i would like to buy an autoloader. There seems to be alot of love going around for the remington 11 70 and winchester sx3 but i cant seem to find much good info ( very little actually) on brownings maxus. Does anyone on here have one or a buddy with one that can help me with my selection process. Please be gentle i am new here as well as to the sport.

The maxus is a pretty new model is probably why you can't find much info on it. I think it may even be new this year.

I shoot a browning gold myself and like it a lot.

The biggest thing you want to look at when buying a shot gun is how well it fits you.

Go to a gun store and try the different models, Browning, Winchester, Benelli etc..

With both eyes open pick a point on a wall and shoulder the gun to point at that spot. Then close one eye and see how well the gun lines up. (You should be looking right down the rib at the front bead)

I'm no expert but hopefully this helps you out a little.

I actually like it better than the beretta Xtrema 2 , thas too long for me i recently held one at a gun show and i luv it it's going to be my next autoloader, i think it is as good as the Xtrema 2 with the odd innovative feature like the beretta and a little cheaper too i believe that in a duckblind camo and 28 inch barrel is a winner !!

A friend bought, I believe, the first one in Canada in early July. It was a demo gun that was diaplayed and shot at various venues across the country. He loves the gun and tells us that its the best semi he has owned --- & he has owned more than a few!
Cheers/luck!
Happy Christmas, John

FYI, Remington makes the 870 pump and the 11-87 semi.

Welcome and good luck in your search. Post up some pics if you get a Maxus.

My son purchased a Maxus this fall. He's shot quite a few ducks and geese with it as well as a few rounds of skeet. It's handled everything from the 3.5" BB s to 2.75" target loads without a hiccup. He's quite pleased with the gun. Cheers bac4

Thanks for the help guys, if anyone else sees this and has something bad to say about the gun i would love to hear itmaybe its to new for people to start having problems, i would just like to be WELL informed.

Grouse man thanks for the correction!

my buddy went to bass pro to buy a gun he could beat the crap out so he doesn't scratch up his SX3 and he walked out with a maxus

He loves it, really light gun and light recoil, he was trying to shoot skeet one handed "gangsta" style, missed every single one, but the gun handled just fine.

Oh the dura coat stuff winchester puts on their guns is really nice too

Auto

I have to say I have 2 browning Golds and if the Maxus is as reliable as those two, great, nothing against Italian fellows but shooting in the marsh I could stomach a 900.00 but not a 1900.00 submersible.:eek:
