Hi, Brutus asked me to upload this picture of his Wichita Target rifle, we took this at the range (MVRRC) last year around xmas time when we went out there, I took my AIA #4 MKIV, anyways it was a fun day, he let me fire off the last of the 4 match loads he had at the 200 yard gong (ever so much fun), I'm probably going to go to palma hell for using a palma rifle for shooting at gongs! :D

Anyways, more about the rifle, Brutus told me he emailed the factory and provided them with the Serial #, apparently it was ordered as an action only (with trigger ) sometime in the early 1990's, it is a left hand action, it's a single shot, and very very well made as far as I could tell, the barrel appears to be a custom stainless job, the stock is also custom, it's a thumbhole type and maybe birch or maple from the looks of it - a very accurate rifle, a pleasure to shoot!

The stock is similar to what a lot of the British shooters use. I have a right handed Wichita that is going into a McMillan prone stock right shortly.

This rifle has a Krieger barrel and is bedded by great shot and craftsman Charlie Bayne, Wolfville.
Did Brutus get a scope rail for it. i have a blank M1913 rail.

Regards,

Peter

A Krieger barrel and bedded by Charlie Bayne, say no more.....That thing will shoot! Maybe Brutus will pipe in and give the details on the sights and what trigger is on it.

Paramount LH sight. Maynard: so you have seen Charlie's fine work? It's like his shooting; about 78 and he won the 300m TR match this year and who knows how many provincials and Atlantic championships, qualified for Bisley many times as well as Mini-Palma and Palma.

Regards,

Peter

Peter,
I have talk to or should I say yelled to Charlie quite a few times. I have seen some of his craftsmanship on Gord L and Barry's rifles. He hasn't been to the DCRA for a few years now, but a year doesn't go by without someone sharing a story or asking about him.

Charlie sufers from Minears, which retired him from RCMP. Definitely one of the great characters of shooting. Very wise on psychology of presssure and how to behave on range and functions. He shoots .22 off the shoulder well, beating Canadian champ Steve Maly not long ago using a Walther with self-made stock.

The last time Charlie made the trip to the DCRA matches he bought a pile of "once fired" lapua brass. He was using it for the first time at the NS provincial matches last summer and was having quite a few case head seperations! I can't remember the load but it was not hot- the brass was simply bagged out and somebody fobbed it off. Charlie was too much of a gentleman to say who the seller was, but it sure pi$$ed me off to see somebody like him taken advantage off.
I didn't realize Charlie worked on anything except his Angels!

MPWOLF, I measured those seperated and near case-head-seperated brass with an RCBS headspace gauge and they measured .008"+ . Charlie doesn't do chambering, but excessive headspace is my analyses of the problem.
He used to bed others rifles, but does only his and a few others now.
