bsa .222

I have been searching the internet for serial number dating my BSA .222. I found some info that lists the manufacture dates, but mine is not listed. It starts with 2A 16xx. Anyone with any info to help as I need the barrel twist so I can shoot varmint bullets of under the 55s i use now.

Your rate of twist is 1 in 14 which is fine for the lighter bullets. I tried loading 62gr Barnes TXS a while ago for the same rifle, and had a few key holes.

Thank you so much.....I will begin loading the 50 v-max i have. I have tried the heavier 62 also and results were terrible. But the gun really loves the 55 FMJs I have been shooting. Any idea on DOM? Gun is like new.

The V-max are a long bullet, maybe try a 55gr soft point.

I thjink the longest bullet that will shootvery accuratlrey is the Sierra 60 gr HP. It is a flat base. The 222 usually shoots a 50 gr HP or SP bullet.
