Alright gents. i have an opportunity at a "late `80`s" BSA hunting rifle. It has a Mauser type action, fantastic wood, 30-06. It has been bedded and floated, only about 200 rnds through the pipe. The Seller is asking $600 firm. Is that a good deal? I can't seem to find any info on BSA hunting rifles. Help

Late 80's BSA sporter??

There ain't no such thing. BSA was out of the rifle business by the mid to late-70's. The earlier - 50's to early 60's - CRF actions are the better ones but there is nothing wrong with the "later" push-feed designs. Also for what it is worth, BSA never built a Mauser actioned rifle.

As for value all the BSA's were well built and one in good condition should sell for between $400.00 and $600.00 depending on model and cartridge it is chambered for.

I think, if it is a standard sporting & not a full stock $400 would be in the ball park. I have a Parker Hale 1200 in 300 mag. I always felt they were brothers ie very similar in value. Mine is 400$ AJ

Parker Hales were built using other manufacturer's actions - at first surplus Mausers. The company was more an "assembler" rather than a manufacturer.

The BSA's on the other hand were built entirely "in house". The actions were entirely hand made - right to the last day of operations - which is why they are so damn smooth!

In my opinion any model of BSA sporter is much more desirable - and worth more - than the majority of the PH's .
