BSA Sweet 22

Hmm. I was unaware they had such a terrible reputation.

Perhaps I might want to look elsewhere then. At any rate, thank you for letting me know this.
There are plenty of decent rimfire options on the market that won't break the bank. Simmons .22 mag series performs above it's price point. Hawke and Nikon are another couple of options to explore.
 
I have a BSA sweet 17 on my 17hmr. I think if I took 2 old coke bottles and cut the bottoms off, drew crosshairs on with the thickest sharpy I could find and stuck them on the ends of a paper towel roll. Then I'd have about the same quality scope as my BSA.
