Picked up an `as new` Browning BSS today and can not figure out how to select which barrel to fire. According to the info I have read, there is a selector at the rear of the trigger guard but I can`t see it. Any help would be gratefully received.!!!!

The early ones did not have a barrel selector, I'm not sure when they added them but I believe it was in the latter production guns.

From what I have read about them the model with the silver trigger had non selectable barrels whereas the model with the gold trigger had selectable barrels .

I have the model with the silver trigger so that would bear out what you are saying. I can find no evidence that this gun has ever been fired and am really looking forward to trying it out on clays. Thanks for your help. Tony

Did you get it from one of three that are on the EE right now?
English stock or the Prince of Whales not sure if that is the correct term or not.
Care to share a picture of it?
I see the question has been answered and hope it shoots well for you.

No Rob, it was purchased from a local dealer after a long search for a good one. I can find no evidence that this has ever been fired and it is totally unmarked and came in the original box It has the usual pistol grip stock which I prefer for shooting clays and will see if it suits me in the next two days.!!! Ah but I owned a 12 ga. BSS with a gold non-selective trigger and a 20 ga. Silver triggered selective. The selector if equipped is indeed at the rear of the triggerguard. If the OP can't find it on his then it just is not so equipped.
