BSW K98k's - any turn up recently?

I've seen a few Berlin Suhler Waffen "manufactured" K98s in the recent RC batches... But they are marked "337" and dated 1939 when BSW and Gustloffwerke became amalgamated.

But, no, I have not personally seen any BSW marked receivers either... Too bad.

Ill take a BSW 1936 Rc is anyone has one.......hhaha

A 40 dated 337 is more common then any BSW, but a 1939 dated 337 is RARE. Worth picking up in RC trim imho. Only 9k produced.

I know a guy from the board here who eventually got banned (but I have little doubt he is back) had a 1938 BSW.
I dumped mine years ago becuase there were quite a few around it seemed at the time.
I have only seen one 660 in this last pile as well.

As I recall, the 660 might still be for sale at one of the usual places ;) I'd take a BSW over a 660 code any day though. The attrition rate HAD to be higher for the earlier rifles.

Haven;t seen may late war codes either, apart from the odd (common) byf44 or dot44.

I've been watching for a BSW myself but haven't seen anything. It would be nice if more retailers list the codes and years of the RC's they're selling. There could be all sorts of interesting stuff brought in.

On another note, I'm surprised the bcd/ar at SFRC is still there. Pretty cool code. Maybe the straight bolt is hindering the sale?

Ya, I found a 1937 BSW and made a floor lamp out of it for reading. Also bought a swjXE and am currently sporterizing it with a shorter barrel and a jewelled bolt. Good winter projects.

Could be. I would not buy it for that alone. Some people feel differently, but to me, an RC is not really a K98k unless built to that pettern. With a straight bolt, it's more a VZ24!!

That's why I didn't buy it as well. If it had a bent bolt and cupped buttplate stock I think it would be sitting in my collection right now.

It is still a bit tempting though.
