Actually, (only with a sportered, bobbed and NON-matching LE) if you mount a scout scope, you're very close to Cooper's original definition of a Scout Rifle

you did a fine job-and theres nothing I like doing better than taking an old milsurp that someone has already''sporterized'' and making something nice out of it-they make great functional hunting rifles-the kind you don't mind getting a ding or two in from honest toting in the bush.I once sold a very fine Ruger no.1-beautiful rifle but I only carried it on nice sunny days-but shot all my deer with my old 6.5x55 swede on rainy days
