My local shop wants $10 for an rcbs powder funnel and I won't pay it on principle whether it's the dealer or rcbs charging too much I don't know but give me a break! They don't carry lee products either.

Anyone have a made-shift "bubba's" powder funnel they'd like to share?

I went to a Value Village the other day and found a couple brass trinkets for $2 with a funnel shape like a trumpet horn. I cut one down and drilled out a hole and used it, works GREAT.

It's a bit large but works great. I was using the powder cup my scale came with prior to this and got tired of powder granuals spilling.

"...for an RCBS powder funnel..." But it has RCBS embossed on it. Any funnel that fits in the case mouth will do.

I bought an MTM kit that comes with 2 different funnels and a few differnt ends (for the funnels) so the they will work for many differnt calibers. So far so good, it works well for 9mm, .45ACP, .243, .270 & 30-06......

Here is a link, just scroll down, its the 3rd or 4th item.

I think it was $12ish.......

Cheers!

Well, not just anything will do. If you are loading Black Powder, Pyrodex, or some other substitute, use a brass, copper or aluminum funnel. Plastic can build up a static charge, then it's ka-frickin-boom. Smokeless is OK for plastic though, I've never heard of anyone having problems.

Kind of curious which part of firemachine69's comment "Like most of Lee's products" referred to? Feel's cheap, or get's the job done. Hate to be an equipment snob, but the ONLY piece of Lee junk I've ever used that wasn't a total piece of junk is the Auto-Prime.

I wouldn't refer to Lee as "junk ". I have a Dillon 650, but also started reloading with a Lee Classic. Let's just say Lee is a very affordable alternative. Their press is adequately built and gets the job done for home use. Do I think it would stand up to commercial use? Certainly not nearly as well as the Dillon.

Funny thing about Lee equipment, some of it is comparable to any of the more expensive brands like their carbide dies for example. I only use Lee dies, and I do not see any difference. Maybe I have not reloaded enough, but I am very satisfied. However, their powder scale seems very plasticy and junky, I would not recommend it.

I own several 6 cavity Lee bullet molds, and researched these before buying. In the end, I could live with the aluminum vs steel argument. However, they are the only one I know who sell 6 cavity. The saved labor between a 6 cavity and a 2 is huge, and must not be underestimated. I figure than non-stop, you could cast 1000-1200 bullets per hour with a 6.

I am very pleasd so far. So is Lee "junk"? I guess it depends on your point of view. I am of the belief Lee serves a useful purpose, they make the hobby more affordable to the casual enthusiast. And I like their innovative offerings like 6 cavity molds and alox lube.

Their shell holders are crap and I will swear to that till the day I die.
I was loading some 17 fireball the otherday and couldn't get my 17 cal funnel to seal on the short neck so I just used the powder pan from the rcbs 1500 .It worked way better

Now that's what I'm talking about...

I'm sure some here could cut a small hole in the top of their tin foil hats, and just take it off and flip it upside down.
