A few minutes ago, my son sent me this picture...taken about an hour ago...his first "solo" buck... One shot with his grandfather's rifle that he inherited (HVA .270).

He has it hung now and will be skinning later today...then butchering...all on his own. He has watched and assisted me doing it more times than I can remember, so it should all go okay.

Congrats to both of you! Although my kids have both left home they still return to hunt with me and I enjoy that but I’m also looking forward to the day they hunt on their own, more for their sake than mine. I’ll miss the hunts with them but will be proud of them for being able to do it themselves. I’m sure they both could now but it’s still easier to go with dad lol.
