I posted this on the optics forum but no bites so I'll post here as well. Does anyone have any experience with the Browning buckmark reflex sight? Good, bad, ugly? Was looking for something to top off my contour 7.25 urx and found a spot selling the reflex sights for $60.00.

I put one on a Marlin 336Y for my daughter. Worked just fine...better than I thought a $50 optic possibly would. I have since taken it off and mounted it on a Smith .22A pistol, again for my daughter. It took the .30-30 rounds with no problem, and much to my surprise after just taking it off, mounting it on the pistol and then firing to see where it was hitting before adjusting it, it printed to point of aim. I don't think you'll be disappointed. It seems to be a lot of optic for not much coin.

$60.00 is about all they are worth. Mine has a tendency to turn itself off for no known reason. In bight daylight I see all manner of ghosts and reflections that makes it hard to find the reticle. Works ok in doors.
Have taken mine off my Hunter as I get better results using the FO sights. I'll probably replace it with a Red-Dot some day.

I did research on reflex sights for my rifles/shotgun and the overall consensus is that if you skimp out on one, expect it to break or have issues. Very mixed reviews for this series of sights on Amazon.com.

I've read good things about the Burris Fastfire series and the little Vortex reflex on all heavier recoil conditions (12g, rifle or centerfire pistol). Under $200 spent you are getting a mediocre unit and I wouldn't trust it on much more than a .22lr.

These are not made by Browning. Just a generic sight that some company puts everybody's name on it. Just Google "cheap reflex sights" and click on Images.

Although this isn't the sight in question... here's a typical result of a cheap Reflex sight on a shotgun. Don't underestimate the stress on a reflex sight from the slide on a pistol as well:

Thanks for the replys, I appreciate it. Like I said in my original post, looking for something for my Browning buckmark contour 7.25 URX which is a .22. Not looking for a shotgun topper. That being said I don't want to buy a piece of crap, and I don't want to spend a fortune. Just looking for a decent sight for a decent price. I'm not a competition shooter just a weekend warrior. Like to pop out and plink and I'd like to be reasonably accurate. Thanks again for all the input

Lots of mixed reviews on what you are interested in buying, on Amazon. Check those before you buy. If you are paying $60 for a sight, you are not getting that much.

i run everything from $25 china knock off mini red dots to $500 Leupold Deltapoint on my pistols.
if you want to pick up one that wont break the bank and is good quality might i suggest the Bushnell TRS-25.

around $100 give or take 10 on each side depending on the market.
good quality and nice and small.
also i have yet to have it die.
granted, my $25 china knock off is still running too.

from there you jump another 100 to the $200 range and then your looking Buris Fastfire and then your into the Sparks, then from there your into the high end ones.
but from what your saying id say get the Bushnell TRS-25.
it will do what your looking for, has a easily available battery and is nice and small and works good.

If you get the Buckmark sight, and want to mount it on your Buckmark pistol, take both sets of Allen keys to the range - the sight takes metric, the pistol takes SAE.

We have one on our Buckmark camper, I bought it for "SWMBO" for Mothers' Day; only finally got pistol, sight, both sets of Allen keys and range in the same place today. It's a lot of fun, and really very accurate; just the thing for cheap ammo and steels. She was surprised at how her aimpoint was wobbling all over the compass - and the reason she didn't want the sight in the first place is that she already punches the centres out of targets with that pistol's iron sights.

Anyways, for only having used it one day I recommend it.
