Always loved the accuracy of my Savage, paid 469.00 a few years ago because I wanted a beefy barrel, adjustable trigger, and metal sights.

The stock was okay but flexed when I squeezed the forend and barrel, also really missed having a magazine.

Bought a Savage 10TR accustock for 50.00 (love wider fore area and beefier aluminun support), factory DBM and factory magazine for 110.00.

Removed the sights, filled in the checking on the stock, did a bit of dremeling for the side bolt release and lug, and finally thought I really like the green stock contrast so used a tough Krylon textured paint cured in the sun for a week.

Need to get out and shoot but if it does the same size group I did with the old set up, I will be happy, as my son and I just use it for targets and gophers. We don't shoot past 500 yards so a .223 made sense.

Yeah I know I should have done a Boyds or Tactical stock, but hey was trying to keep this a budget build.:)

Anyone else do a DBM Savage upgrade?

My buddy shot this group in the wind with his handloads.

And yes this was a private farm and controlled road.

Nice upgrade. I sure like my 223 Hog Hunter. I got mine last Fall for 5 notes and change. I put a Bushnell Elite 3200 fixed 10x scope on it and get good accuracy with Hornady 50gr SP bullets and 748 powder.
