Advice here for other novice builders interested in budget optics - aluminum mounting hardware, especially crosspin screws are an absolute failure point: over torquing happens easily, any hard field use is a no-go, and the solution to replace with more aluminum screws is not a solution.
I have two different budget optics from two different big names that get top reviews online...one company uses steel mounting hardware, the other company uses junky aluminum mounting hardware that belongs on an '80s Mattel G.I. Joe toy.
Both have excellent warranties but a warranty is useless if the replacement is the same junk...It's not hard to guess which one I'd like to use as a new target.
Buyer caution on the budget optics - steel mounting hardware (at least the screws) is a must.
Happy marksmanship!
