Build my 700 or go to a Ruger Precision Rifle

As everyone else said build the 700. I am really not seeing the $1600 in the rpr. If they sold for $900 I could see it. Yes I have handled a few in the shops. One 308 working the bolt sounded like you were working a zipper on a tent.

After shooting 3 RPRs, one in each caliber offered, I agree 110%. Not a $1600 gun, especially when the Savage build I just finished in 6xc cost only a couple bills more... Ruger is good at marketing, and that's what they've done. A 700 build will serve you much better, JMHO
 
I was out at the range on Saturday with my 700 as it sits in 22-250. Shooting off a bipod and rear sock, I was able to shoot 3 3-shot groups under 1 MOA at 100 yards. the smallest being just over 0.3 MOA. I really like the gun and I would be really disappointed if I bought a RPR and found it didn't shoot as good.

I think I'm going to try to find a Vortex Razor Gen II or AMG scope for this gun right now and continue shooting it a lot until I am ready to rebarrel.
