Building my first 10/22 right now. Thinking the Tapco bull barrel model for a regular 10/22 because it has side rails too. Regular barrel gun though, want it nice and light. Add a foregrip, a muzzle break and a couple of high capacity mags.
Optics, that is the question!! Thinking red dot?? Any suggestions??
Any advice or comments??

Buy the 10/22 target tactical, and save your money! I just did and it was cheaper than I could build one. Shoots 1/2 inch groups at 50m. P&D was the only place I could find one. Lebaron sells it for 500, but doesn't have any. They are hard to find apparently. 16 inch bull barrel, hogue overmolded stock, lightened trigger, extended mag release, rail, and bipod, all in one package! I love mine!

Extended mag release is a must, if there isn't one on it from the factory, get one, it makes mag changes alot faster and safer.

EVen the target trigger still needs a lot of work before it's half decent. Look into a Wolff spring pack maybe and some polishing.

If the above post means that you want to put
a gun with a factory tapered barrel in a stock that has
the barrel-channel for bull barrel, well... that is a huge mistake.

I said it a million times,
a factory 10/22 barreled action
cannot have the barrel free-floated correctly.
It needs to have the barrel supported in the front.

And, better than the Tapco, maybe you have a look at the SR22,
which is a 10/22 that has been put in a Nordic stock at the Ruger factory.

Lots of aftermarket parts are to be available soon for the SR-22 ;)

It looks like a nice cool gun, but
there is absolutely nothing "tactical" about it.
