I am thinking of converting a crosman 2240 into 25 caliber.

this will be a legal way to pack more punch from the 2240 for short distance ( 10y ) grouse hunting gun.

I know people did some in the U.S. , Quackenbush was selling one and now sell the parts for it.

I want to know what will be my option here in Canada.

so far I found a Marauder barrel but I'm not shure if the twist rate will work for a 10" barrel shooting light pellets ( 20g ish )

anybody here builded one.

I am in the process of building one myself. Head over to the Canadian Airgun Forum, sign up and search. Lots of info to build a .25 calibre. Also, a member GIPPETTO has (had) a couple of ready made barrels for sale. Of course, there are others as well. Also, members that can make a .25 calibre bolt, info on Hi-Pac conversions, etc. etc. Hope this helps some.

I have a milling machine and a lathe in my garage, I have acces to a blueing tank at work. I can modify the steel breech and make a bolt for .25 cal.

I just don't want to spend 150$ on a barrel ( marauder ) .

do you have a barrel already ??

Yes. I have everything needed to make a 2540. I even had a brass breech made for that gun. If you have the Marauder barrel, you would need to machine it to fit the Crosman breech and make the transfer port. You may want to recrown the barrel to a 11 degree target bevel. Don't use the original Crosman breech (plastic). Get at least the steel replacement one. Its about $40. Or, if you want to tackle making a breech, I have some good drawings for you. The bolt would not be bad to make, but an extended probe one already made is not a bad price either. You will also have to play with the hammer spring, or get (or make) a power adjuster, to keep the speed up to the maximum legal (under 500 FPS). A hammer spring from a 2289 works pretty well, but a power adjuster gives you more flexibility. Hope some of this helps. Like I said in my other reply, there are a lot of members on the CAF willing to help other members out.

thanks for the info Bearc

I don't have the barrel yet, i'm still not sure...... if I buy the Marauder I will probably make 2 barrel out of it

I already have a steel breech , and I made a power adjuster already.

how long are you planning to go with your barrel ?

Should have read a little closer. I am doing the pistol 10" and a rifle at 16". Yes, you can make 2 out of the Marauder barrel. One will be 10" and the other one just slightly under 10". The OD of the Marauder is ever so little over .50". and the regular Crosman is 7/16 (.4375). Eric at scopes and ammo.com can give you some prices on different things. He doesn't advertise them on his site, but he responds quick to emails. He has a good selection of .25 pellets as well.

the Marauder barrel I found is from scope & ammo, and by the way they got a special and the 2240 is at 58.99 !!!!!!

what pellet are you planning to shoot ?

I know Quackenbush recomand 20g RWS

I bought all the different H&N .25 calibres from Scopes and Ammo. I think the Predator Polymag will be a good pellet for hunting. I like that pellet in both the .177 and .22, so I think the .25 will be good as well. I also hear that they are coming out with a predator that is all metal? (Maybe here already?) You can't have enough pellets and the gun will decide what it likes. I bought my last 2240 at Wally Mart. They have discontinued carrying it and it was $43. I think all the WalMarts are out of them now. Still, the $58 is a good price as the 2240 is THE most modded airgun ever.
