I don't have the machinery or skill to build a 7.62X39 bolt action. Would like to link up with someone who could build one for me. Any advice?

EHG

I was looking at the CZ527. Lately these are going between $800 used to $1100 new. I thought this was pricey for a bolt that will mainly be used for plinking with surplus ammo. From what I have seen on this board a 7.62X39 bolt can be built relatively easily from a Savage action, but the parts are expensive. A Lee Enfield conversion would be nice but I understand that the man hours required to do the conversion is high. The problem would be easier if I had a large parts drawer and a donor action, but sadly I have neither. Do you have more information about Lee Enfield conversions?

Are you talking about the LE barrels on a Carcano action? Some have modded them to take magazines from the Norino BA 7.62x39 others maintained the en-block with a spacer.Scoping difficult........Harold

I've never done, but others have and will probably pipe in about them.

Remember that cheap conversions are because it's a DIY project. Having someone build you one is not. The main problem is ejection.
I have a Rem 788 that I converted years ago and find it sometimes doesn't like to eject the empty casings. Accurate as hell with a Shilen barrel on it and uses 788 mags. PM me if you want to buy that. Make a fantastic plinker and cheaper than a CZ for sure.

I'm presently waiting for a bolthead from PTG on this Rem 783 project I'm going to do. Ejection looks good on it.

Is PTG able to supply the parts to complete the bolt head?

Can't seem to get an answer on ejectors, extrators, springs and such... any info?

A Lee Enfield conversion is pretty straightforward. Set barrel back, adjust headspace, cut extractor groove. Magazine feed is whole other other issue.
Cooey-Carcano conversion is also a pretty basic job. LE barrel works well. Turn and thread to fit original barrel sleeve, set back, set headspace. Barrel is retained exactly as barrel in Cooey conversion. Replacement barrel needed, of course. Original clips hold 7.62x39 rounds.
Primary extraction with steel cased M43 cartridges can be an issue.
Lots of bubba'd LEs, makes a C-C more shootable from the ammunition availability standpoint.

That is what has been holding me back... I prefer to have complete bolt heads, if something breaks or gets lost, you don't stop all rifles.

Still working on parts... no one wants to get back to me with an answer

Yep, would like to know about spare parts too. Still a new gun that Remington don't want us customizing yet. ;)
Does the Savage extractors fit?

in case you haven't seen this thread yet

a 303 british reamer or 30-40 krag reamer can be made to work ( only 2/3's of the reamer is used ) but you'll end up with a very long throat that would ideally work with around a 220 grain bullet .
set the headspace on 7.62x39 gauge . for dies use either a 303 , or 30-40 dies ( depending which reamer you used ) and machine roughly 1/3 off of the bottom of the die .

this works well for heavy slow moving cast bullets ( below the speed of sound ) think 300 whisper kind of thing .

anther way to do this on the cheap would be find a savage axis on sale ( something based on the 308 case length ) .
you can either swap the bolt head to a ppc one , or I have read you can take a standard 308 sized bolt head and just change the extractor .
get a savage prefit small shank barrel chambered in 7,62x39 .
the magazine will need to be tinkered with a bit , pretty much just bending the feed lips inward a bit .
