So here is the deal, I have my factory ruger reciver (unfired), also I have a Tactical Innovations CH22 reciver aND a dalask reciver kicking around. I'm currently running my dalask reciver right now and I would like to build a AR/SBR style rifle. What are some options?

I have given it some thought, and researched a bunch but after other ideas and routes to follow. I have been looking at the Nordic chassis BUT the fact that the optic rail sits very high off the main body it's a bit of a let down. Also I have been trying to find a NEA 10/22 chassis or even a FS-556 but in all reality those are hard pressed to come about these days. Thanks guys!

Have you looked at the Troy T-22 chassis? It is probably the nicest AR style I have ever handled. I know for a fact that the Dlask receiver won't work with it but the Ruger one will. The Dlask is just too tall in comparison. ATI also makes a plastic one, which is ok, but overpriced.

The worst part about most of these chassis is the PIA factor they add to cleaning.

I did a budget build AR look alike 10/22.

Bought a factory 10" Charger barrel for 80.00 USD, bought a 556 AA stock for 100.00, a 20mm top rail for 12.00 to lock both of the stock parts together, a flash hider for 20.00, flip ups for 30.00, AR rail sight 20.00, sling for 12.00, tri angle front grip for 10.00. Used a spare AR stock I had in my junk box with a higher riser, and a spare red dot with QD rings.

So not into it for big bucks at all, and it shoots great. A gunsmith I know did a 2.5lb trigger job and bolt release mod, other than much louder it shoot the same or better than eith the stock longer barrel.

Was close to the 660mm limit so installed a collar on the slider tube, epoxied and used a pin to make it permanent. I know it's plastic but after 3 years it's holding up just fine and is nice to shoot when cold, just like a 22/45 and Glocks....

Fun to plink with and the idiotic stupid ill considered 10/22 mag limit by the so well respected RCMP has my mags limted, good news is their foolish decision just made me go out and buy another .22 without a mag limit! My gawd they just are so pathetic and Liberal water boys.

Sweet. I have looked at the troy-22 chassis and it's very slick with the monolithic upper but it's not what Im going for in the end. The more compact the better while keeping it in the legal length. Very much a fall back chassis if I can get the tactical, instead of the sport.

The Ruger SR-22 or Nordic AR-22 certainly allow you a lot of different options, here is one of mine, with 2 different fore ends and muzzle devices...

...but ultimately they are just heavy cladding bolted to a 10/22 for looks, not function. A short barrelled 10/22 without the aluminum chassis is actually more practical, lighter, cheaper and easier to disassemble/reassemble. I much prefer shooting this one:

If you are looking for more SR-22 info there is a long thread here, with lots of info and pictures: https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/976074-SR22-Rifle-Questions

Thanks, even though it's cladding it still feels right especially after I had ARs for decades. I rarely have to remove the action from the stock but can easily go back to a wood stock of I want.

Tom E Gun those are some nice 10/22 rifles! Your SR-22 are exactly what kind of feel I'm looking for. The next big jump will be figuring out to either build one up from a base like the AR-22 or just buy a used SR-22. I do have a lot of random 22 parts and a few AR furniture parts from my CZ-858 that I rotate here and there.

Sqr, those are some nice builds. Really into the O.D hand guard and stock pic. With your Nordic Chassis, are there any top rail segments like the dlask that will work with a HG? or any HG that match the top rail segment of the chassis that you know of?

Any top rail marketed for the SR22 will match the height of the Ruger / Nordic chassis. You have to pay attention (I think) to attachment screw spacing as the Ruger HG and the Nordic HG may have the holes in different spots.

Here is what it looks like now..

Thanks gcdavidson for your info! Your SR/AR-22 builds have been awesome to reference. Some very cool builds for sure, your C8 mock up spectacular!

On your Nordic builds did you find that there were any gaps in the chassis?

Thanks! Yes, on one of the Nordic's I noticed a small, maybe 1mm, gap. I did not want to try torquing down on the screws and risk stripping them to see if it could close the gap. I've not really investigated any further though.

Awesome magpul HG carbine length? Do you notice a gap anywhere on your chassis between the 3 peice kit Sqr?

Yes if you look closely between the upper and lower there is a gap. I am not positive but the 10/22 receivers have variations in shapes from earlier years to the current models.
