ok so my brother and i want to build a ar15 but dont know really where to start. so can any of you guys help us out? where to go, good uppers and lowers and all that. any help would be awsome. thanks :)

there are so many options available, what are you after in the end? caliber, barrel length, quality, price, forgrips, stocks, triggers, etc etc...
my only real experiance so far is with LMT upper/lower and i am pretty happy so far. check out our sponsors, check questar (click link up top) first for lmt

Get a picture of what you want it to look like when your done. Then figure out how your going use it and how much you can spend. Post the pic and cost allowance ect and hang on for the ride:D

looking at maybe a .223,.5.56x45mm, or 7.62x39mm about a 7 inch barrel, good quality, nice forgrips, and a nice stock something like a caa tacitical stock. price not so much an issue about 3000gs is the max. like i said i dont know much about this sort of thing. lol.

oh yeah its got to be able to kill alot of zombies.

Start with a nice M4-type setup. 16" barrel, detachable carry handle and collapsing stock. LMT offered through Qeustar and Stag from ArmsEast are both quality carbines.

check out dlask's line up. good canadian company, no hassles with the border.
tonnes of options for the do it yerself ar build

here are some pics of what i want it to look like.

hope this helps out.

I just finished building my AR-15 and I have to say that I had no clue what a pain it was going to be to put on the free floating quad rail. I've put them on before but the one I ordered involved removing the front sight assy. There are others quad rails out there that only need 2 bolts to fasten on.
To sum up, make sure you or somebody around knows what they're doing or you may end up with a box of AR parts.

Stay with the .223/5.56 as this is the standard cal for AR-15s. The first and third pic show 10.5" barrels and extras. Consider your build in sections
1- Upper Flat top upper with X" length barrel. Will need a low profile gas block or grind down the original if you are putting a railed forend on over 7". Sights and scopes/dotsights are a bolt on affair
2- Lower 2a-Reciever and trigger group ect
2b- stock ect(looks like you want the folding carbine style) get a pic of the exact model and shop the dealers up top or the EE as they are hard to get over the border now;)

If you shop the EE you will find a good selection of short uppers from 7"-10" 14.5" ect look around a bit. $3000 will get you a nice setup:D
