looking for your input; what is needed, what isnt, general setup, feedback from the gurus, etc...

here's what im gonna be shooting, and my general idea right now.

16" AR (w single pt sling)
15" Grizzly magfed
Glock 22

Grizzly-Phase3-1.jpg

for the vest i need to know should i go with just a chest rig, or get a full on vest/plate carrier? im thinking the vest will be a better all around fit rather than being front loaded with gear.

next is pouches;
- looking at the triple stacker m4 mag pouch holds 6 AR mags
- 6 pistol mag pouches
- C9 or utility pouch to hold the Grizzly mags
- drop leg holster for the glock with duty belt
- drop bag

is there anything else i need or dont need? im thinking maybe hydration pack? first aid? spare shotty rounds?

help me out!

3-gunnin vest

if you come to my match in kebeckistan

you don't need slings on shotgun or rife

the maximum round count on a shotgun/rifle/pistol stage is
18 20 20
on pistol/shotgun
30 18
Rifle/shotgun
30 18
Pistol/Rifle
30 20

last time i have put my IPSC rig and it really suck

for the molle rig i'm thinking of using it for the AR-15 pouches at least 3 i will take those 10 round lar-15 pistol mag with a C product plastic coupler and attach cheap 30/5 round mag to it just for the lenght
cause last 3 gun almost evrybody had jam with those 10 round pistol mag not long enough
i will use 2 cr speed versa pouch on my belt plus holster and keep space for both my cali comp shell holder
i got to figure a way to put my shotgun speed loaders on my right side cause my holster is in the way

and on the molle rig try to get some king of holding device for flashbang grenade or else cause we use the BONUS theme a lot it can come handy to save 5 second on a stage

so a recap for your vest
3 ar-15 mag pouch (get those coupler ) use the 10 round and drop the mag don't use the other mag on the couple
2 or 3 pistol pouches on the belt
holster must be a drop leg of regular IPSC holster
and if you use your shotgun (here you are in open division)get at least 3 pouches for it (4 mags total)
or if you use a regular pump or semi get those cali comp shell holder 2 4 rounder
and 1 6 round just in case

remember 3-gun ROCKS .....IPSC sucks:cheers:

Run light run fast...

Really... all y'need are a couple of mag pouches a dump pouch and a basball cap.

Spend what you would have blown on Molle or whatever on ammo and get good with your guns.

'Cause if you can't shoot worth a #### all that fancy dress up stuff ain't gonna help either.

I have had to alter all of my LAR mags, to work in my firearm (just to be clear, I had to file lightly in specific areas on the mag bodies, for them to drop free, and also seat properly) I have multiple different magazines from different manufactures, and none of them have the drop free, or seating issue.

I have now broken 2 of the Tac Pul plastic base plates from hitting them hard, to seat the mag, and I know others that have done likewise.

Sorry for the hijack!

What did Earl teach you ;)

...slam it in...don't be shy...then give it a quick tug to make sure it's seated

Mine seemed to all work OK...

Sorry for the hijack :pirate:

3-gunning

the thing is that due to their short lenght and sometime over dimension the mag feel like it is seated properly but it ain't

and all of those who shoot ipsc are use to drop the mag and not to twist it and get the lower part in, it is conterproductive

so i have sorted the LAR-15 mag , i use the good one that i can fit 10 rounds thru it and if it fits the gun
and all those crappy mags i use it for the bottom part of the coupled mag ,

by the way 3-gun league will be BIG next year in GRANBY (the best club in quebec) i'll try do really fun match for those of you in ontario that could consider shootin with the froggs and then we can play carpenter ( the first one to get hammered wins)

Hey quigley do you still have a room on the ISLAND were you can sleep?

I looked at the Tactipul that came with the LAR mags and decided it would be too flimsy. Not surprised to hear them breaking. I take about 1/8" off the bottom of each leg of the follower with a 1" stationary sander, and use a Magpul Ranger baseplate. Doesn't take very long at all once you get the first one done. You need to take enough off the legs on the follower to allow about 10.5 rds in the mag. As they come from Questar they barely allow the 10th round to move in the mag. This mostly works if you are loading on an open bolt, but if the bolt is closed you will have seating problems.

The Tact pull on the LAR mags sucks! I've broken two because you have to whack the 10 rounders hard to get 'em to seat. :(Switch 'em out for Ranger plates like he suggests (I'll be doing this to mine).

Follow the advice of rhs! Modify the follower to make 10.5 rounds fit too!

Just an FYI, if the Lar mags aren't dropping free, give a tap to the detent (looks like a filled in "'U") under the mag release cut-out on the mag. I had to give all of mine a tap to get them to drop free. Don't hit them too hard though.;)
