Building a precision rifle in short action caliber, caliber advice

To clarify I never said deer past 750. Said the 6.5X47 with a 130 Berger on paper could work for deer OUT TO 750 yds. My load is verified with drops out to 910 yards. Far as I can shoot on my property. Gun is a full custom RBROS, Defiance, 26" Broughton, Manners T2A, Jewel. As the OP stated he's not a hunter So for paper and steel just about anything will work. Pick something with good barrel life and low recoil and go shoot. Don't over think things. OP can verify what this gun looks like he's seen it. She's a beauty.
distance 750 yds
Alt 1500 ft
temp 32F
Humidity 60%
Drop- 16.2 MOA
Velocity-1819.1 fps
Energy ft-lbs 955.1

Almost 1000 ftlbs will easily kill something at that range. So really that 6.5x47 could kill a decent size animal even at 1000 yards but that’s playing games I’d say

Why not just get a .308 or 6.5 barrel for the TL3?

Unless you want to go with a lighter build/profile?

That’s what I’d do. A bolt head if needed and another barrel from PVA. I think Go Big tactical is bringing these barrels to Canada. The Bighorn is versatile, may as well use it and save some money. Plus if your not hunting/carrying it; I’d get the same contour as your shooting now.

I wouldn’t mind one of the bartlein or pva prefits. Asked go big tactical for the pricing on one as well as a barrel vise and action wrench. 250$ for a new bolt head for the 308 sized calibers

I picked up the Viper barrel vice and Big Horn action wrench and they are very nice.

I am making up a few trailer hitch adapters for the vice if you go that route and are interested in a mobile setup.

Picking up all three bolt heads of the TL3 is also a wise investment IMO, but the magnum is quite a bit more expensive.

That’s a cool idea!! Hey, how easy is it to mar up a nice barrel in a vice? I wouldn’t wanna damage the surface having it slip or anything else. I don’t need the magnum bolt head unless I want to try that new 6.5 prc that looks so sweet
