I'm planning on getting an M14 for deer hunting this year & setting up my 30-06 for some long range shooting.

Eventually I think I'll sell the 30-06 in favour of a 308, so that I can consolidate my ammo supply.

What mods should I make to the 30-06 that I could later swap over to the 308 down the road? I was thinking of Hogue stock, picatinny rail & scope, bipod & muzzle brake?

Problem is action length. The -06 is long and the 308 is short. Using a 308 in a standard LA savage may lead to feeding issues.

I think you will enjoy your 30-06 for LR shooting. More then enough case capacity to launch any match bullet you want up to 210gr. That extra case capacity and long neck will really help.

There isn't much that will transfer between the SA and LA except maybe the trigger if you are using aftermarket.

If your goal is to build up a LA savage, send me a PM and we can discuss all the parts available.
