Seeing as wolverine lists a barrel extension for the xcr in there parts section the idea of a 6.5 Grendel has got my interest get a gas block and a 7.62x39 bolt and that should do it what's your take on it as I'm novice at chambering it would go to a smith

6.5 Grendel was listed as one of the caliber that Robinson Arm will be offering, but it was dropped a couple of years ago, I seem recalled they were having problems with reliability with the round, since 6.5 Grendel is another shorten case caliber like the 300 Blk, perhaps start with the new low profile gas block, blind piston sleeve and shorten gas piston of the new 300 blk conversion kit might get you better results.
