I have been looking into getting into the AR market and have decided that I am going to build one. Hopefully it gets going soon and I can post progress pictures along the way

Read up on it and gather lots of info. It's not terribly difficult but there are things you need to know and understand. Pat Sweeny's series of books on the AR platform are an excellent start. Building from scratch with quality components *usually* cost you more than buying outright but it allows you to end up with the exact rifle you want for your specific needs and tailored to your desired specs rather than settling for of-the-shelf models with features / options you may not necessarily want.

Nice....I think you will enjoy the process. It is a very wide market....make sure to do your research. If you do it well you'll narrow it down to the reliable brands.
It is easier than ever to obtain/import anything you want now from the U.S
Good luck and keep us posted

WARNING, it gets addictive...you can consider your first build a gateway into more and more ARs that you don't need but you need...lol

You may get some more feedback on the "Black and Green Rifle" forum vs the "Precision" forum.

Just make sure you're doing it for the experience and because you want something specific, as you'll not save money doing it yourself. There are quality factory ARs available for decent prices if you look. Make sure you factor shipping charges into the whole equation... I had a buddy who did a "budget build" only buying parts off the EE or when they were on sale. In the end he only spent $750 on parts but $225 on shipping!!!!!!!!!!!

I am really happy that I built an ar-15. So now when something does go wrong I've already got the blueprints in my head. It's a really simple design (lower atleast).

Hey, I appreciate all the feedback as it is all good advice. I'll keep you posted on what ends up happening with my first AR!
