1500 is out of my league unfortunately, i guess the norc m4 is my best bet what would be recommended upgrades for a stock norc
thanks for the advice
I've been building AR's for the last 17 years and the cheapest you can build an AR for is around $850. Depends on the deals you find, but around there, for price. Yes people that's nonNorinco. Not to say there is anything wrong with Norinco, either. It helps to know all the true ins and outs of the parts distributors. Here is one that will free all of your minds. I've been buying parts for AR's from Brownells.com. for years. When you can buy a BCM Gunfighter Charging handle for $47 there as apposed to almost $70 here or a Magpul CTR for $77 as to $119, you start to save money. It's not hard to order from them. There are some catches, but you follow the rules and you can get mostly everything you want. I believe I noticed at Freedom Ventures they have STI Lowers stripped on for $125. Add that and a lower parts Kit from Brownells at $54 and a commercial tube $18.18, castle nut $4, a buffer for $12, a mainspring for $5 and an end plate for $6. It looks pretty cheap, doesn't it? If you want to have it all in one package SFRC has a carbine stock completion kit for $59.
It's all about looking around to what is available and not accepting the first thing you see.
The most impressed I've been lately is the NEA Barrels, lower receivers, lowpro gas blocks etc. Those folks bring the prices down all over. It seems strange that after NEA brought out their polygonal rifling barrels, I notice Noveske has now included polygonal barrels with their high end rifles. Hmmmm?
Biggest problem is people don't like to look very deeply into something. Look deep and ask alot of questions and don't accept one persons opinion. Go with the facts you provide for yourself.
My suggestion is to not just believe the first person says it can't be done and actually look around and see what's out there. There is alot of know it all. It's always best to check it out for yourself. I try to share as much info with AR builders as I can. If your not careful, you'll be spending way to much money on something that's so so or way too much money on something that's cool.
