I Finally took the plunge. I have been collecting parts for last few years .IT is not a cheap hobby but addictive.

and extremely satisfying.

A very worthy hobby/project, in my opinion! I’m looking to start a build this year as well, did you have much trouble sourcing parts?

For this rifle I used parts from 5 different sources!! some Canadian and some US. Shipping and custom charges made it too expensive.

But live and learn ! I am planning 9 more rifles for the next few years and will buy the parts from one source only.

Some of the tools I am going to use for installing the barrel to the receiver, disassembling the bolt, timing the barrel, setting head space and checking headspace.

following out of intense interest

can you share your experiences with the various sources and name names? if they are awesome they deserve the promo. if they were over priced or difficult to deal with they deserve to know so they can work on their PR.

Get a qualified m1 Garand guy to do the barrel/bolt / receiver work
And do the rest yourself.
That way, you can complete guns as the parts kit is completed

By the looks of it in his pictures, he's got the reamer and gauges, barrel blocks and action wrench to do all that. He obviously knows what he's doing.

With the tools he bought and a little knowledge, he can become that qualified guy to do the barrel and headspace work (don't forget to disassemble the bolt before using the pull-thru reamer).

I finally had enough time to finish this project. I made few changes which i will share with you. I encountered fitment issues with my Citadel barrel. This Barrel had Too much meat on the shoulder and would not time properly. So i either had to have it fixed or buy a
Criterion barrel. I got a new barrel.I also decided since I do own a M1Garand in 30-06 to build this one in 308.Next i had Problem with a
Op Rod tab being too small .I had that fixed and also few parts parkerized professionally. I will be doing 9 more in the next few years.

The new bolt assembly tool. Why do they have such a long screw on the pivot point?
The original assembly tool's don't.

A few minutes on a lathe and the Citadel barrel's shank would be the perfect length to torque to correct index. Probably intentional - the same way that chambers are left slightly short so that headspace can be set correctly.

Nice looking rifles!
