I'm staring to build my first full custom precision rig. I have found a Stiller Tac30 action, I'm just not sure what caliber I'm going to go with. I have a budget of around $5000 for the rifle and $2000 for the scope. I plan on building over the next six months. The only thing I'm sure of is I'm going to use a Cadex chassis. Any input from you guys would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

What shooting discipline will the rifle be geared towards?

Will it need to work for positional shooting or for bench/prone only?

What will the rifles max weight be?

Is this a long action or short action?

For a custom heavy long range laser on a short action I would go with a 6mm or 6.5 flavor. Have it built by a good smith with a heavy barrel, should shoot very well.

Do you intend to shoot premium factory ammo or reloaded ammo?

If you choose reloading (a wise choice), how deep down the rabbit hole do you wish to go?

Standard SAAMI chambering.....or a tight neck, minimal freebore wildcat of your own imagining :)
