Guys,

I'm looking to get a double stack .40 for possible future competition in IPSC. Will be used for range plinking in the mean time. I'm thinking about either the BUL M-5 Government .40 S&W (two tone) or a used ParaOrd 16-40.

Which would you choose, and why? Limit is about $1000 all said and done.

I like the 1911 platform, so don't try to convince me otherwise. :D Stainless or two-tone is also a must for me (not a fan of straight blued handguns).

I like the new BUL's, but don't know of anyone that has one yet to review. ParaOrd reviews are everywhere, and they look good.

I'm stressing over this because this will likely be my LAST handgun for the forseeable future (baby on the way!!!!) and don't want buyers remorse.

Any input is great! Thanks guys.

Myself I would go with the BUL, I've seen some higher end BUL race guns, I always thought of them as similar to an STI/SVI in this category or something comparable to an Edge maybe. I don't have hard evidence that they are, it is more of an opinion than anything. I've never held or shot one and I am not sure what these particular ones Marstar is carrying are like, but how bad can they be....I have eyeballed these for a while now and if I was in the market for a high cap, it would be a BUL.

And I like the 2-tone.

My useless 2 cents.

+2 on the BUL...
Nothing but good feedback on these units....
You KNOW, anything Israeli and to do with firearms is going to be right!
The price is right.. for the money you're getting a new gun...
Nothing wrong with the Para..I own two myself...but in this case, it's gotta be the BUL.

Wow, lots of guys picking 'something else'. Something else like WHAT? Suggestions would be appreciated.

Nothing on the CZ platform though, as I think they're ugly as sin.

I'm leaning BUL as well. I think Marstar would do a LOT better if they posted more detailed pics. Close ups, different angles, etc. It sucks being one of the first to buy a gun from there, because no one knows exactly what they look like until they get it! ARGHHH!!!

Glocks - ugly as sin, wouldn't touch one with a ten foot pole. Same goes for Beretta... uggggggly.

Man, looks like a pretty divided crowd around here! 33% for each choice in the poll!

I have fired both quite a bit. If they were a similar price I would personally go for the Para for the simple reason that it is a lovely gun and handles recoil slightly better due to its heavier frame.

However there is nothing wrong with the Bul.

Well, NOW I'm leaning towards a ParaOrd from Gunnar at Armco...

$1100 is a lot of money to be chucking out the door... man, buying guns is tough work.. ;)

My only concern.... buyers remorse...

lots of votes for non of the above but only one comment .
seems strange .
It would be nice to know what those votes consider better .
The Glock suggestion don't work , they may be a good production gun but IMO they won't cut it in standard , If they did there would be more of them .
and neither of the above guns can be used in production .
I think this was to be an apple to apples thing , not apples / and oranges .

Well, I did it. I took the plunge.

ParaOrd 16-40 Stainless with Adjustable rear sight and front Fiber Optic....

Dang. I just dropped a LOT of cake on a new pistol (well, ALMOST new). Thank you Armco!!! :)

Thanks for your input guys, much appreciated!

When you're ready for a Black Badge course drop me a PM. My next one is scheduled for 24/26 Mar 06. I may or may not run one in April. After that, not until the autumn......
