Bul M5 - any opinions out there?

Hi All,

I'm looking for 'any' opinions. I haven't seen one in Ottawa, and I've never handled one. But, they are supposed to be both a "Para-killer" and an "STI-killer" --> Performance of an STI at the price-point of a Para.

Is it true? What is the build quality? Fit? functioning?

Also, how interchangeable are the internal parts between the M5 and STI/SVI?

What sort of dovetails are cut into the slide if I want to change front/rear sights?

And so on...

Thanks!

Sean

I asked this question months ago and got no answer. Most of them are sold out at Marstar and have been for some time.
I got to fondle one at a gun show and it felt solid. But if they are so hard to get I would be concerned mags and parts would be too.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

I saw and handled one at a gun show a while ago. It looked well-built and the polymer grip felt good too. I don't know how many parts are standard 1911 bits, but you may want to check into the availability of those other parts in case you need replacements in the future. Remember that a well-built gun should last several lifetimes, so spare parts can be an issue!

I used to do T&E for a friend that loved handguns but he was a terrible shot. So? Years ago, I shot a Bul and my impression was that it functioned perfectly but was not finished as well as other 1911s. In other words, this pistol had sharp edges etc. Bear in mind, the Bul I shot was all metal so the quality may have improved. Regards, Richard:)
