Just wondering what is the best price around for bulk 223 ammunition? Is there anywere that you can buy a crate of surplus ammunition, like we can buy crates of 7.62x39?

I was about to order a new CZ 858 this week, because it seems like about the best type of gun to shoot at a range for high volume practise. However if there were some good deals on .223 or 5.56 ammunition around, then I may rethink my choice of guns, and buy a AR.

You'll never find 5.56mm as cheap as you see the 7.62x39! My advise is if you want to keep costs really low, go with a non-restricted CZ.

that russian steel case stuff is pretty good you just cant reload it, it runs great in my AR and the accuracy is more that sufficient, you can hit fist size balloons at 100 yards

I would advise not using that ammo if you are going for accuracy. Took only 150 rounds or so to degrade the group sizes of a Swiss Arms from 1.5" groups to 6-10" groups. Then the rifle required a thorough cleaning, at which point all sorts of garbage came out of the barrel. JUNK.

Really? thats quite a big difference in group sizes... 10"?? god thats awful. Why is it that mfs ammo performs so poorly? is their .308 just as bad?

can tires around here have 1000 rounds for 416, not a bad price still twice the price of the 7.62 stuff, but twice as accurate too.

There's also the corrosive factor. If you get tired to rush for cleaning or don't have the time to clean right after shooting time, non-corrosive x39 ammo is a few $ more than .223.
