Hi I'm new to the handgun scene and looking for suggestions of where I can get some cheaper bulk ammo, brass cased so I can reload it later. Also any recommendations on brands. Like I said have never dealt with any of the pistol ammo

I just keep an eye on CanadaAmmo for their spring or fall or Black Friday or Christmas or New Years or it's Sunday or the sky is blue or its raining.... SALE.

I've got PMC 45 ACP ammo really cheap at times.

Western metal out of calgary would be my choice, they sell 45ACP bulk, i have shot thousands without a failure yet, its reloaded brass and priced well.

Currently we have loose bulk pack UMC 45 ACP. 230 grain FMJ, 500 rounds @$279 or American Eagle in 20 round boxes, 500 rounds @$299. Yes if you can get to the Calgary Easter show that would be your best selection. Plan to get there early on the first day for the best deals and selection. Phil.

Handloading you own will definitely be the cheapest route. Look at plated bullets like campro. Small primered brass will be the cheapest brass available, but you could always look at buying cases in bulk like starline.

Some of the remanufactured ammo out there is more expensive than factory bulk - so buyer beware...

as this is the ammo thread, not the reloading thread, i assumed this was out of op's want. but if he's up for it, cast bullets are even cheaper than plated and you can go even cheaper with casting your own.

Wanstalls had some great Winchester service grade ammo. Currently, they have bulk packs of Remington UMC and Federal American Eagle. Both are brass cased. I want to grab a case of the Winchester stuff the next time I see it.

You should try maybe re-reading the OP's post...'brass cases for later reloading...'

It is my thought that starting with reloading right out of the gate (v. Buying bulk ammo to start) is a viable option.
