Getting tired of always casing around looking for a dealer with my powders in stock. SIR and Wholesale are at times right pitiful! Sometimes I cant even get a pound of something as common as 4064!

Just wondering if any members know of a bulk powder dealer in western Canada? Would be so nice to get a 8 pound jug and be done with it for a couple years.

I buy bulk powder from Higginson Powders, usually more than 24lbs at the time. He's got very good prices and huge stock. Give him an email for a price list. He's mainly a mailorder business. BTW, if you buy more than 24lbs at a time, he waives the Hazmat fee. Order primers at the same time in bulk if you need them. He also has good prices on bullets :dancingbanana:

Higginsons is about as cheap as it gets. Its been a little while since I've ordered from Andrew, but if I remember right he pays the freight on orders over 21 pounds. The Haz Mat fee is a lot less than the provincial sales tax I don't have to pay.
Getting powder in a cardboard box doesn't bother me any, but is a deal breaker for a lot of people.

I have been dealing with Thomas, and later, Andrew Higginson since they were still Xelex, back in the late 50's. I have never found a source of powder and other components any better than this one. Good service and some real deals, especially on surplus numbers that show up from time to time. What we usually do is team up a few shooters and submit a big order [max is about 110 lbs]together. That way we eliminate shipping charges, and the Hazmat is spread over 3-5 persons, and amounts to very little per person. The only downside is that besides any surplus powders he may have, Andrew only deals with Hodgdon and IMR numbers, so if you are seeking Alliant, Winchester, Vihtavuori, Accurate or Ramshot powders, you must get them from other sources. I wish Andrew would expand into some of these, but he probably has plenty on his plate without the added brands. You cannot go wrong dealing with Higginson's. Regards, Eagleye.

++ on the Higginson idea. I have only dealt with Thomas before he passed on. A gentleman, indeed, and by the sounds of things, so is Andrew. I still buy a can of some kind of powder if I am in a real gunshop though. I really don't care if the price is (fill in the blanks), as I appreciate the horsecrap these dealers have to go through just to keep clear of the do-gooder gov't twits whose sole purpose in life is to make someone else's life miserable. Whatever the can of powder costs at a gunshop, I have wasted a hundred times over in the past. For example, I smoked for twenty years.... a real show of good judgement!!!! We are damn lucky to be able to buy powder.
