Bull pup louder

Perceived noise will likely be higher, yes. Assuming you are comparing a conventional gun with a bullpup of similar barrel length and with same muzzle device or lack thereof. The shorter OAL will place the boom closer.

I had 2 T97's and a Tavor. As B stated the blast was perceived a bit higher but in the big picture not enough of a difference to matter.

This, with a brake or comp you will definitely feel the smack of the concussion more than you would from a conventional rifle; especially shooting in an indoor setting.

That depends on the barrel length.

Bull pups can seem louder based on how close the muzzle is.

But they have no higher Db than conventional.

A 12" barrel AR vs a 20" bullpup. The 12 will be louder in most cases...

Interesting thread...I actually wondered this myself with my X95...it SEEMED louder than what I had originally perceived with my WK180 (which I have since put a Lantac Dragon MB on it). I removed the Dragon this past summer and put the default birdcage on it and took both the WK and X95 to the range. The X95 was louder...obviously not as loud as the WK with the Dragon on it, but still...I didn't think much else on that until looking at this thread. I should put the Dragon on my X95 and try it out...

Okayshooter makes a good point about the proximity of one's head/ears with the bullpup...that may very well be the difference in auditory and perceived experience.
