Purchased a Savage 11 International Trophy Hunter xp in Winchester 308. Worked up a good load with a Sierra 165gr BTSP.
Is this enough caliber/and bullet weight to hunt Bull Moose with? Have never hunted with a 308 before, dont want to be under gunned. Have always used a 35 Whelen for all hunting , but have sold that gun. Any help would be appreciated.

With the right shot placement and bullet a 243 will do in a moose. They dont wear body armour. 308 with a good quality bullet(hornady interbond, gmx) will do great

I prefer the interbond over the soft point, if you happen to hit bone. Other than that the 308 will do fine. Used mine to take a bull at 290yds.

The .308 will work just fine for moose. Your choice of bullet though, I wouldn't trust that one. Its basically a target bullet and is prone to blow ups on bigger game. A friend of mine used that bullet on a big elk and it took 5 shots with a 7mm mag. If I would be looking at using the Nosler Partition in that bullet weight. Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

Actually it isn't a target bullet, it is a big game bullet with lots of anecdotal evidence to prove so. The big difference will be the speed at which the bullet will impact from a .308 vs a 7mm Mag. A Gameking will perform very well at the 2800fps or less MV the .308 will be pushing them at.
Enjoy your hunt.
