Bullet expansion

I was curious about bullet expansion.

I keep the throw away 18 l water bottles. I fill them with tap water and store them in a shed for use when we have a protracted power outage. If I stand one on end in the back of a toilet, it will power several flushes.

For bullet testing, I shoot into the flat end (the bottom). A bullet generally gets trapped inside the jug and can be recovered for inspection.

The point of the posting is to show a quick and easy (cheap) way to run an expansion test. I often do this when I want to compare several different bullets, or the same bullet in different barrel lengths.

I did it recently with a 7.62x39 with a clipped tip (FMJ with lead core) and was surprised to see it performed fairly well.
