Bullet for med range preformance

I try my best for a brain or boiler room shot. I don't want to hit shoulder if I can avoid it. The few times I have, that onside shoulder was toast - bruised and bloodied.

For my boiler room shots, there is no damage to the nearby shoulders from bruising.

Penetration from the Interlock/SST has always been great for me out of my 303Br, 30-06, 300Gibbs, and 308. Yet to recover a bullet.

I think im going to purchace some 165grain or 180 sst's then and test them out. If I can't hit a newspaper bundle at 300-400, and even 500 I shouldn't be shooting at deer at that range. I hope the 165's shoot in the 1-10" twist barrel. I will probably try some 180grain balistic tips too, maybe do a side by side comparison in the feild/on some wet newspaper. Im thinking the SST's may be built a bit too tough. With all these magnums around it seems that they are making the bullets a bit to tough for the perfectly fine standard cartriges.
