I was just wondering if there is quite a difference on pricing across the country. I check on EE here every so often looking for decent deals and more often than not they are asking as much or more than the price locally here from the retailers.

Most bullets, ammo, powder etc is imported by a very small handful of wholesaler's in Canada.

The price gets set by them and the value of the Canuck buck.

The reseller's have a little bit of latitude in how much they mark up from the wholesale but all of them need to keep the lights on and those costs are similar with each business. So unless there is significant differences in shipping costs to get the product to them the prices tend to be fairly close.

If one business has product for significantly less than everyone else it usually because they bought a ton of stock when the dollar was higher or they bought such a crap load that they got additional discounts from the wholesaler.

As an example, if you buy a Hornady bullet somewhere in Canada, the Korth Group probably brought it here regardless of who you bought it off. Not many places do their own importing.

don`t believe everything you read either...

I looked at WSS online for some 200gr .358 Hornady RN bullets and it said out of stock in Saskatoon.

I got to the city at noon so I did the WSS/PA tour and low and behold...1 box of said bullets...@ $52.99 instead of the $64.99 listed online...and a half price rifle case at PA for good measure.

Noted...will stop by WSS tomorrow to see if there are any non advertised "specials" . More than a few months ago there was a wicked non advertised powder sale there IIRC after hunting season. The gun counter staff was surprised it wasn't promoted at all. For myself I didn't care and let a few of my fellow nuts know about the sale and they also took advantage.

In terms of inventory precision...agreed. I have found both big box stores in Saskatoon incorrect at times.

Prophet River has been bang on regarding their website. If its on the website, its there. Stopped in today on my way back and picked up some powder available there. They have their stuff together and easy to support because of it.

Now that the cost of a bullet exceeds the cost of the primer & the powder, it might be the time to start making your own. Took some sage advice from "Ted Dent" a few years back and started making my own.
Graduated to powder coating my 9mm cast bullets as the ingots I cast/use proved too soft for velocities over 900 FPS.

Weening myself off store-bought bullets really keeps my costs down.

Ours should be live inventory. If you see it, should be in stock. Once in while (less than 1% of the time) there are mistakes due to error or theft. :)

I find that odd too.

The other one I find odd is when someone lists the prices of their rifle components from somewhere like wss and then asks about $50 less plus shipping.

Rifle $1250, rings $150, scope $450, trigger $200 at wss right now. Save yourself $50 here. $2000 plus shipping.

Hard to beat Bullet Barn, Budget Shooter Supply, or Rusty Wood Trading. Which coincidentally, are all within 150kms of each other on the West Coast. I haven't seen cheaper used on EE than the above.

Bugs me too. Why are you laying out the math for me? It was your build, not mine. It reminds me of people selling air cooled VW s and listing how much they've spent on repairs to justify their asking price.
