I personally prefer the rcbs collet style but that's just preference.
I also have used the kinetic hammer type but found out a great tip after I broke my first one. If you use the kinetic style, put an ear plug or two in the end so the bullet doesn't come crashing into the plastic end and breaks your puller into pieces.

and don't hit it on a really hard surface like concrete. I have a cut-off 6x6 post about 20" long that I use to whack the kinetic puller on. I rarely use it any more though. I tend to make up test rounds with increasing charges and end up reaching points that I stop at due to pressure signs. Could be 15 to 25 rounds are charged higher sometimes so they get pulled and reloaded with lower charges. I use the Hornady collet puller. The RCBS version is very similar just different on how it squeezes the collet. The Hornady uses a cam lever to push the collet into a taper while the RCBS uses a spinning motion to tighten up a threaded hollow 'bolt' in the die to do the same thing. Your choice, both are probably good.

A cam lock puller for your press is the way to go for uncrimped cases.

For crimped cases, use a Kinetic hammer puller.

Speaking from experience.

Counter intuitive i know. But with crimped or military, pushing them slightly in before pulling helps.

I usd a hammer type when I was shooting a lot of pistol. Like Ganderite, I pulled a whole bunch of those 7.62x51, the ones that had a warning sent out about. I am still shooting the stuff.

Since then, I have stocked up on collets. I recently acquired a bunch more, plus a couple more dies that hold the collets. Wise investment. Mine are all RCBS. I use them mostly now to pull bullets from 7.62x54r and 7.62x39 to use in .303 British.
